It’s been a minute

It has been quite some time since I last blogged. In a recent session with my amazing executive coach, she asked me about this. “Why haven’t you blogged in a while?” My first thought was, I have been busy! Right?! Have you not heard me? However, after much reflection, my honest answer was rooted in a false belief that there was nothing more for me to add to the conversations of the day. As any good executive coach would do, mine laughed at this sliver of insecurity. She challenged me to document publicly where I am growing, what I am learning about critical pedagogies, and how it all impacts my practice.

Of course, this feels vulnerable. And, of course, I am going to do it. This is the first step. The photo below is a selfie taken right before Welcome Week began. I noticed many new students doing exactly this, and I jumped in to capture the nervous moment for myself. A new professional challenge is beginning. It’s time to create fresh relationships, explore a city in a new region, and seize a critical opportunity to create space for students to thrive as they learn in a supportive environment.
